Very clean and great kitchen /chill out room.

Very clean and great kitchen /chill out room. I only stayed for one night and arrived late but they picked me up at the airport for a fee and stored my bags safely the following day. The welcome drink on arrival is also a nice touch.

Bed was a bit hard and there were no spare blankets - the room was so cold and only a light duvet. I woke at 730am in the morning to a trumpet playing music!!! I thought it was a resident so went out to reception to ask them to stop but turned out it was their idea. They thought it would be good for ‘ambience’ at breakfast time!! The noise travels all over the hotel so this was so frustrating to be woken , especially when it wasn’t very good music!!!

The location is perfect to explore La Candelaria - located in the middle of a busy street. The staff are amazing and so helpfully and the breakfast is not to be missed. Have an evening chill on the rooftop terrace!

Brilliant staff and a nice place for a short stop off in Bogota’s Lively Candelaria neighbourhood

The staff at Casa platypus were incredibly helpful and patient. A free welcome drink was also hugely appreciated. Good WiFi too. Great location with good access to all the best parts of the Candelaria district

The walls are very thin and you can hear everyone coming and going. Not a place to stay if you’re looking for a peaceful nights sleep.

An excellent hotel which is good value for money.

Everything! It's central location, really friendly staff, reception where you can purchase drinks, an atmospheric courtyard patio with hammocks and spotless bedrooms with plenty of warm water in the bathrooms. Finally, it is really good value for money.

Nothing! Although anyone with accessibility issues would need to ensure a room on the ground floor.

Adequate budget hostel with great location to visit Bogota landmarks but nothing more...

Casa Platypus is a no-nonsense budget hotel in the Candelaria neighborhood of Bogota. Most of the landmarks in Bogota (like Monseratte, Museo de Oro, Museo Botero, Plaza Bolivar, ...) are within walking distance, which is really fantastic. On top there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the immediate surroundings to satisfy your appetite. Next door is an Oxxo open 24/7. There's good wifi both in the rooms and common areas. Breakfast is adequate for 4 usd. Staff is helpful, but you really need to ask and ask again, they are not very passionate about their job and making sure your doing fine. The decoration is basic, but nice, a bit old-colonial style. It's clean.

Like already said, staff is somewhat indifferent about what you do, but in the end they will help you with all requests. The hotel has an indoor patio, around which all rooms are located. So that means that if a guest starts making noise in the middle of the night, you can hear everything. Life starts early in Bogota and some people will get up and leave at 5am to catch a bus. Just be warned to bring earplugs. The beds are king of hard and not very comfortable. Last but not least, be aware you are in Candelaria which is the old town where all landmarks are, but in the evening there is not much action going on after say 9pm. And most infrastructure in Caldelaria are old houses, meaning hostels like Casa Platypus don't have modern days comfort. For that and the real nice hotels, shops, bars, restaurants, etc book yourself a room in Zona T. You can come to Candelaria during the day then. However, Zona T hotels on average are much more expensive to stay, but the luxuary is there.

Lots of common area including a big living room and roof terrace. Excellent location in La Candelaria.

People talking in the courtyard at night can be heard in the rooms.

Super helpful staff. Great central location. Comfy beds. Beautiful building and nice atmosphere.

Bit noisy as very central and not great soundproofing. Bring earplugs!

Can only recommend this place!

Friendly, helpful staff, welcome drink, free coffee. Nice colonial building, great location in Candelaria. Hot water, big modern bathroom. Roof terrace. Nice breakfast. Lounge and patio to hang around.

Shower has low water pressure. Poor sound proofing, you can hear your neighbor talking in their room.

We are happy with our stay, nothing incredible though

the staff were nice, good services such as airport pick up. good location, could walk to all the museums etc

the window in the ceiling which meant we couldnt sleep in as it was so light. Would have been better if the shower pressure was good (these are just minor). it was overall good to stay here
